Who is allowed to wear this T-shirt? And who is not?
I'm Jana and I'm responsible for marketing at Dawn. To me, Dawniness means that we take responsibility for uncertainties and mistakes. That's why today I'm sharing my doubts about the Environmentalist T-shirt with you:
For our 11-for-1 campaign, we sell statement T-shirts and donate 100% of the profits to the NGO One Tree Planted. The proceeds fund a reforestation project in Vietnam. Our goal is to plant 11,000 trees by the end of the year. So far, so good. But why have we only achieved 28% of this goal? Maybe because of the statement on the T-shirt?

My doubt is: Am I allowed to call myself an "Environmentalist"? Am I even allowed to wear this T-shirt?
I feel that my lifestyle is not sustainable enough for me to call myself an Environmentalist. Maybe others feel the same way?
My team had good arguments against it. This one convinced me: Environmentalism is not about a few people acting perfectly sustainably. It is much more about as many people as possible doing as well as they can. Environmentalism celebrates every step in the right direction. The journey can begin with a clear commitment. Our T-shirt can stand for this commitment.
Are you also unsure? Did this story convince you? Feel free to write back to me. We look forward to hearing from you.
Best regards from Berlin,
Jana from Dawn
