Give global tips with tip me – and with your help
When we go to a restaurant, we automatically leave a tip. But have you ever left a tip for the person who sewed your jeans? No? Through our partnership with tip me, you can easily do this with every purchase in our online shop and express your appreciation for our colleagues in the factory in Vietnam. Say thank you, make dreams come true, and create a connection between customers and sewers – that is what tip me aims to achieve with your help.
How does tip me work? The great thing is that it works quite simply. When you add a pair of jeans to your shopping cart, you can select an amount you would like to leave as a tip, and tip me will show you the sewers behind your product. The tips are collected and distributed fairly among the sewers. Every single cent of your tip goes to the makers of your jeans, while tip me and we cover the transaction costs. The distribution is carried out together with the local NGO "Center for Development and Integration", which advocates for social justice in Vietnam.
Through this connection between customers, sewers, and businesses, tip me aims to reduce global inequality, as millions of tips flow to the origin of all products. At the same time, this also makes the entire industry more transparent: Every sewer has a personal profile in the tip me software and is in direct contact with tip me. This provides a behind-the-scenes look at which brands are truly fair.
To be able to implement these goals on a global level, tip me has now launched a crowdfunding campaign. Why exactly now? For two years, the tip me team has been further developing innovative solutions together with visionary fashion brands and with the support of Fairtrade Germany, the German Federal Environmental Foundation, and the Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy. Now, two major milestones have been reached:
- The software that enables tip me to go live with new partner shops in just 30 minutes is market-ready. At the same time, thousands of workers in a factory can be added to the system in just 9 hours.
- A partnership with the global payment service provider Wise (formerly Transferwise) enables almost worldwide coverage for tip me.
The goal of tip me's crowdfunding campaign is €500,000, which will enable them to reach 140,000 workers worldwide and collect over 30 million euros in tips. The investment will go into sales and marketing to build a large network of sustainable partner brands.
