One of our testimonials is Dawn. When we found her on Instagram, we knew right away: It’s a Match – and not just because of the name. To give you a better insight into our development process, we interviewed Dawn. What is her favorite style? What did she enjoy most about the development? Hi Dawn, could you please introduce yourself briefly?
Hi, my name is Dawn and I create outfits and wardrobe tips on social media to share my values and help others recognize and live their values through clothing and style. Over 25 years of experience in the fashion industry and retail led to my love of clothing and style.
What was your first reaction when we contacted you to work together on expanding our size range?
To be honest, I was a little cautious when I read your first email. I have already had many conversations with different brands about sizes and inclusion and know that the process requires a lot of effort and consideration. It is well known that it is difficult to cut jeans so that they fit really well. However, I was happy that a brand really wanted to take the initiative. The more we talked, the more I felt that it was really important to you to do everything necessary to expand your size range.
Why is this project so close to your heart?
Sustainability and being mindful of your own wardrobe are very important to me. Jeans have been a problem for me for a long time when it comes to fit, as I myself wear an oversized size. The idea of working with a brand that wants to create a solution for these two points made it a project that is personally very close to my heart.
How did it feel for you to actively participate in the development process?
Really great! I felt like I was part of the process. My voice was taken into account, even though I was geographically so far away from the development and production in the USA. I felt that the entire team was really interested in my thoughts and what I had to say.
Could you notice a big difference between the first round of samples and the final product?
I could see and feel the development of the fit from sample round to sample round. It was exciting to receive and test the first samples. Already at the first fitting, I could tell that the cuts were well thought out and I liked the fit. At the last round of testing, I was super excited because I could feel how well each pair of jeans fit.
What was the biggest challenge in the development from your point of view?
In the last two years, we have all faced some of the biggest challenges of our lives with the pandemic. So some delays in the project could not be avoided. Even though it was sometimes a shame that the development of the new sizes was pushed back, I was happy that your team mastered these challenges while taking into account the health and safety of everyone involved.
What did you like best about the project?
I like your commitment when it comes to fit, and the inclusion of many different voices and body shapes to get the fit just right. With every development step of the samples, I could feel the improvements. I feel an emotional connection to this journey and am thrilled that women of different sizes were heard and given the chance to wear great jeans in their size.
Which style is your personal favorite?
My absolute favorite style is fittingly the DAWN. It is the perfect, classic pair of jeans. I love the straight leg and that it sits so high on the waist. It simply fits my figure perfectly!
If you had to summarize the entire collaboration in one sentence, what would you say about it?
I am so proud to be part of a development that will provide more people with great jeans. Thank you so much! I am very happy that the universe brought us together.
